Description
A sweet, salty, crunchy holiday treat made with caramel, chocolate, and saltine crackers.
Ingredients
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.
Bake for 5 minutes, then remove and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
Sprinkle nuts on top if using.
Chill for at least 1 hour before breaking into pieces.
Notes
Try topping with white or dark chocolate for variation.
Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
